Tunable Lasers
Unlike cw lasers these lasers emit light in pulses. Each pulse is few nanosecond (10-9 s) long. Pulsed light has specific energy and average power.
Main applications include LIBS, time resolved fluorescence, nonlinear optics experiments, laser marking, cutting, etc.
These lasers emit pulses with10-12 s duration and are shorter than ns lasers.
Applications of ps lasers are very similar to ns lasers and used in experiments where shorter physical phenomena is to be probed. They are more precise in laser material processing compared to ns lasers.
1. NKT Photonics :
With external trigger functionality, picosecond pulse duration, and a wide range of wavelengths, the PILAS series is one of the most versatile offerings from NKT Photonics
Femtosecond lasers emit light pulses with 10-15 s with very high peak powers.
Such lasers with ultrashort pulse duration are regularly used for probing and manipulating chemical processes. The lowest possible heat dissipation with highest peak power make them best suited lasers for micromachining and industrial applications.
1. NKT Origami :
The ORIGAMI XP is the first all-in-one, single-box, microjoule femtosecond laser on the market. Get clean, ultrashort pulse duration, superior beam quality, and unprecedented beam pointing.
2. NKT aeropulse :
aeroPULSE is our ultrafast fiber laser platform. Robust, industrial, and available in both pico- and femtosecond flavors.

1. Supercontinuum Lasers :
Supercontinuum lasers produce broad continuous light spectrum resulting from non linear effects inside a photonics crystal fiber.
Supercontinuum lasers are basically wavelength tunable light sources with properties of lasers! They are the most preferred excitation sources in microscopy, spectroscopy, OCT, etc.
2. Mid IR :
1.3 – 4.5 μm Wavelength Coverage (7700 – 2200 cm-1)
>300 mW Average Output Power
Single-Mode, Collimated Output Beam
Low Noise: 0.025% (Typical)
450 nm to 1550 nm Center Wavelengths
<130 ps Pulse Width, 1 to 65 ns Pulse Widths, and CW Operation
Internal and External Triggering from Single Shot to 200 MHz
QCLs are semiconductor lasers emitting in mid IR band.
QCLs are primarily used in gas detection and IR spectroscopy.
